Recently, it was revealed that more than 500,000 routers in 54 countries were infected with the VPNFilter malware. VPNFilter has new capabilities, including the ability to perform an active man-in-the-middle attack. In our latest videoblog, Stel discusses the network detection that is necessary to protect your business from this attack.
TRANSCRIPT: “Hi, I’m Stel Valavanis, I’m the CEO of onShore Security. The VPN filter malware has now morphed into something extremely scary, in that it is not just a botnet, it also is a man-in-the-middle attack. That means that the network has to be monitored. You can’t catch that activity simply by monitoring your log files. You cannot detect it with endpoint detection. Maybe even your firewall logs won’t give you a hint of that activity. It allows us to bring to light that discussion we’ve had for a long time and that is that the network itself, the traversal point, is where the most powerful detection needs to happen. So let’s all watch out for each other, let’s make sure we’re doing network detection, let’s make sure we’re looking at the data! Thank you.”
